| Elkor shopping centre in Riga Area: 4 600 m² Design and building time: 2006-2007 HSH Architect: David Ruic Interior designer: Dolce Vita, Riga In conjunction with: Ame Wegner As well as a new entrance foyer, the Shopping centre at Riga was refurbished to exude a new more creative identity. The many levels of the shopping centre were linked as never before through stairwell and lift modifications that allowed panoramic views between floors to open displays and presentations to customers. At the ground floor, a light instillation was constructed guiding the way from the entrance to the stairs at which point, the motif is continued upwards. The old stairs were replaced by new steel stairs with a hollow core. The new monolithic stairs were coloured bronze and are curved and sculptural. The stairwell’s steps and platforms were laid with red Bisazza tiles and integrated at every floor with the interior pathway designs. |
